What is Yahoo Publisher Network = YPN?


Speculating the internet business in its deep content, the big online companies like Yahoo and Google understand how efficient it is to take advantage of this. YPN it is a contextual advertising network which was launched in 2005 as probably a response to Google’s AdSense. It was created to have the same features, but it was originally serving US websites.
By contextual advertising we understand the type of advertising through which a website will have ads posted ads that are targeted according to the content of the website, articles and keywords.


By using these methods of advertising website owner will get paid by visitors clicking the ads or by the number of visitors. The program is free for the websites hosting the ads, because the ones paying for the service are the advertising network or the companies that are looking for advertising spaces. Both these programs are important for advertising.


But the programs will not bring incomes at least you have visitors. This means, that first you need to make sure that you are top ranking in the search engines, that you have a good domain name. Attracting visitors will increase your profit.


As a comparison between the two it is said that YPN does not turn the best results after checking a website and that the ads may have no relation whatsoever with the content of the website.


AdSense is offering to its user’s traffic statistics report that will help them understand which are are producing the most and which aren’t. While Yahoo Publisher Network also offers this tool, the results are not updated so often as AdSense is.


YPN on the other had is said to be paying more than AdSense, which helped the gain more users. But this doesn’t mean a better deal, because you might lose money due to the fact that YPN is not always posting the ads that are relevant to your site.


Being in a competition, both these services had to try and improve their usage in order to gain clients. In April 2010 Yahoo decided to close YPN to the use of small publishers but still continues to offer its services to the rest of its clients.
